September 28, 2010: Ready, Set, Dig

The stakes are in, the permits came through... let the digging begin!

(Funny that they just got the land all nice and flat, and now they're going to dig it up again.)

August 28, 2010: On the Road Again

This visit had a big change in the form of ROADS, an important step since paving = permits = construction.

As far as the lot goes, the rocks are gone, the land is graded, and it's ready to go!

August 14, 2010: Curb Your Enthusiasm

Our visit on August 14 showed progress was being made, this time in the form of curbs. This was fun since we could now see where our driveway will be...

August 7, 2010: Shutters and Granite and Tile, Oh My

On August 7 we had our "selection meeting" - basically, now that the structure is decided, make all the interior finish decisions in one fell swoop. Luckily, we are fairly decisive folks (and they narrow down the choices for you quite a bit to begin with).

A small sampling of things to come:

And a view of our lot - can't imagine why that one rock is giving them trouble:

July 21, 2010: It's a Sign

We signed the contract on July 21, 2010... a view of our lot on that date (rocky, to say the least)...

... and above, our view from the front of the house, toward the mountains (incidentally, where Camp David is located).

Just in case we had any reservations, the main street of the subdivision sealed the deal:

How to buy a house in three easy steps

Step 1. Find neighborhood

Step 2. Design house

Step 3. Write check

Ok, that may be simplifying it just a bit...

Check back for photos and updates as we progress from an empty, rocky plot of land to a real-life version of that picture above.
